If any of our readers volunteer at an animal-related organization, they probably know that seeing an animal with strangely colored fur is not a good sign.
We’re not talking about rare cats in the wild or animals with interesting patterns on their fur. We’re talking about fur colors like blue, green and purple. You know…those animals whose fur has been dyed by cruel people. But what’s the point of doing something like that? Why do people do such things?
As for the story of this cute pregnant kitty, her fur was dyed purple, probably because she was used as bait. And yes, you read correctly. To be more precise, it was probably used as bait for fighting dogs. It’s really nauseating to think about it or write about it. Because this purple fur made it easier for the Heartless to bet by color during fights. And not only did this poor kitty have to prepare for almost certain death in the ring, but his life on the streets of Syria wasn’t easy either. Pregnancy and birth can quickly end in a very bad way for cats. Additionally, this did not appear to be the cat’s first pregnancy, which is a much riskier situation.
But fortunately, there was a special group in that region who made it their mission to help animals in need in their war-torn country. We’re talking about the dedicated and experienced team at Ernesto, the Catman of Aleppo. And this team was able to find this extremely needy cat and bring him to his shelter. The purple cat was taken to a local print shop, where she was able to give birth safely. No one knew how he escaped his life as “cat-bait”, but there it was. When Ernesto’s team heard the news, they quickly went to the cat’s house and picked him up. Somehow they caught the poor cat and brought him to safety.
Her rescuers examined the cat in detail and concluded that, fortunately, her overall health was good. They started calling her Violet because of the temporary color of her feathers.
Violette will spend the rest of her life in this shelter with thousands of other cats. And no, we’re not exaggerating the number of cats here.
None of Violette’s babies will have to worry. Ernesto’s team does its best to ensure that these animals have a beautiful and happy life here. Violette is very happy to be where she is currently and spends most of her days exploring the shelter without worrying about anything.
If you want to know more about this story and see how the other cats live here, you can also follow them on social media. We are grateful to the Ernesto team and all they do to ensure these animals have happy lives. Without them, the world we live in would be much scarier.
