An orange pregnant homeless cat was wandering the streets of Mansfield, Texas, desperately crying out for help as she was unable to walk and was crawling to get to safety.
Susan Edstrom, founder of the Four Paws One Heart Animal Rescue Center, located in Trophy Club, Texas, found out about the kitten and decided to help her.
Without thinking twice, she picked up the needy kitten and took her to various veterinarians for different examinations and X-rays, to find out her health.
Pregnant homeless cat gets help

Susan told Love Meow:
The cat has a very strong will to live… It was determined that a (pellet) was (lodged) in the T9 area of the spine. The consensus was to leave it there to avoid further damage. She had sensation in her paws when they were touched.
On top of that, they discovered something even more surprising, an X-ray revealed that the cat was pregnant.
The kitten named Chelsea was transferred to a foster home for her recovery, and over the next several weeks she proved to be very strong and resilient.

Chelsea moved her legs trying to use them and every day she crawled to exercise, while her caregiver did therapy on her hind legs.
Susan said:
We bought a litter box for older cats and she was trying to use it. We finally saw videos of her getting up, staggering and falling, but she was persistent.
One day, the insistent kitten got up on her four legs and began to take her first steps, although she walked slowly but surely.

After a few days she used the litter box and took advantage of her small movements to scratch the tops of her ears with her hind legs. On March 31st, to everyone’s surprise, Chelsea gave birth to five beautiful healthy babies in the comfort of her new home.
Everything seemed to indicate that the cat was ready for this moment and she was ready to take care of her small and demanding newborn kittens.

Chelsea proved to be a unique, wonderful and dedicated mother; She attended to all the requests and needs of her babies, in addition, she constantly supervised them while they were growing satisfactorily.
Soon, all of her kittens were ready for adoption and they quickly found a forever home, except for one of them, the adorable Georgie Boy, who is a mini version of Chelsea, albeit with different personalities, but both were still waiting for a permanent home and, meanwhile, they kept company.

Apparently, Georgie Boy’s company was what Chelsea needed so badly from the beginning, as she was a very shy and suspicious cat. But thanks to her little kitty who adores humans, Chelsea gradually trusted people and grew closer to them.

Little Georgie Boy’s energy and confidence was transmitted to her mother and she began to play and show her true inner cat.
Susan commented:
They are constant companions and you often find him sleeping curled up with her arm over her, as her protector.

They have created a beautiful bond of mother and child, so the members of the rescue center believe that it is best if they are adopted together.
Chelsea is improving her movements, she is starting to move the back of her before jumping, which makes it easier for her to play like any cat. She also learned to use the cat tree, although she does it at her own pace, but her baby steps definitely show a breakthrough.

The adorable cat has come a long way in her life, from not being able to walk to raising five beautiful babies, she truly is a fighter.
Susan added:
She deserves to always have a soft bed and a human being who loves her.

Chelsea will remain in her foster home until a kind-hearted family decides to adopt her along with hers, as they are destined to be together.
