Jacks Anderson and his wife decided to stop for lunch, when the man noticed a glance in his direction it was a tall black pit bull named Poppy. The homeless dog was on the sidewalk under the counter stools, watching them eat.

After lunch, the couple saw the homeless dog again on the way home. This time they both noticed the pregnant dog’s big belly and knew they had to help her somehow.

Jacks told The Dodo:

She never took her eyes off us, but she didn’t come to see us and ask for food. The owners of the stall came out and chased her down the sidewalk. It was obvious that she was afraid and that she disappeared.

Jacks and his wife went to great lengths to gain the nervous homeless dog’s trust and ultimately convinced her to get food from their hands. It was then that they decided to put her in the car.

The man says:

My wife took the leftovers and I walked over to drop them off. She was very nervous, but we could see some of the scars on her, so I understood why she didn’t want to take the risk.

The adorable Poppy was grateful to finally be in a safe and comfortable place after her walk down the street.

Jacks remembers:

We just paused at that point to allow Poppy to calm down a bit, but honestly she was a lot calmer than I expected. I started recording my wife’s video. comforting her and I noticed Poppy had tears in her eyes. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this in a dog, and it definitely made an impact.

The man and his wife took Poppy to the vet, where she was treated for fleas and parasites. Fortunately, Poppy was in relatively good health and returned home to her new family.

Jacques says:

Poppy spent her first few days with us one by one. She slept most of the time and acclimated to the sofa fairly quickly. Over the past two days, she has become much more active, has taken an interest in other dogs, and followed me instead of sleeping.

When the couple met Poppy they thought they were going to adopt her, but since Poppy came home she has become an important part of their family. The dog gets along well with the couple’s other two rescued dogs, Nacho and Frida, and it looks like she was successful in completing the family.

For their part, Poppy’s puppies will stay with the family until they are old enough to be put up for adoption and find their own loving homes.

Finally, Jacks said:

Poppy will stay with us. We are always learning more about her and building a relationship of trust with her. I don’t want to send it to someone else to relive it. An easier way has been won.
