A wheelchair-bound dog who has become an unlikely guide to a blind fox, has impressed thousands of people who know his poignant brotherhood story.
Apparently, the blind animal learned to follow the sound of the wheels of his older brother’s chair, facilitating their beautiful relationship. The West highland terrier, Jack, enjoys being Pumpkin’s guide, and actually believes he is his protective brother.
Both animals have a common story to tell, as they were rescued and saved from being euthanized due to their health conditions.
Dog in a wheelchair is a guide to a little fox
Jack suffered from a spinal tumor that caused his ability to walk to stop, so he would need special care for the rest of his life. Fortunately, the veterinarian Ana Lapaz-Mendez provided him with the foster home that he longed for so much and took care of the necessary care of the dog.
On the other hand, Pumpkin came to the woman with two broken legs and half dead, but thanks to timely medical attention, she managed to save herself from it.
When Jack arrived at his home, Pumpkin had already completed a year living in Anne’s house located in East Finchley, north London. But since he arrived at the end of last year, the little dog decided to take care of Pumpkin from all dangers and become his brother.
Several images are evidence of his bond, showing Pumpkin following his brother using sound and smell.
When they take their walks in the park, Pumpkin is occasionally distracted, but the dog stops and waits patiently for him to catch up. Jack is very protective and is alert to any danger, even when other dogs or cats approach to annoy Pumpkin, he pushes them away.
Ana said according to Metro:
Feel the responsibility to take care of her as a brother does with a sister.
In no time, her beautiful friendship became famous with her neighbors, and the videos Ana uploads to Instagram have gone viral.
Although at first Jack did not know the area, he managed to follow Ana, and later, the fox followed him. Whenever he hears the wheels on Jack’s chair, he follows the same direction, and if for some reason he goes ahead, he stops and waits.
Even at night they can be seen walking together, showing that their relationship goes beyond routine walks to the park.
Jack now moves better and takes an interest in squirrels, sometimes chasing them, but then he goes back on his way and waits for his sister. The little dog has never treated his sister like he was a fox.
However, despite the fact that she gets along very well, not everything is rosy and sometimes they clash, like any pair of brothers. But, even if they fight among themselves, Jack is always there to take care of her, after all, he will always be her older brother and her special guide.
Ana believes that Jack will probably need to use wheels for the rest of his life, although he now walks better than before and has become more independent.
In the house there is another dog named Croqueta, who also takes his turn to take care of Pumpkin and control Jack’s antics a bit. Croquette is a dog without any physical disabilities, so he is helpful in finding Jack whenever he gets lost in the bushes.
The family used to take their walks on Hampstead Heath, north London, but their fame has grown so much that it is impossible to walk without being interrupted. People see them and immediately recognize them, they approach to greet them and as they see that they are always together, they end up loving them.
There are always too many people, so now we walk in quieter areas.
However, all of her fans can see the adorable duo through videos, as their walks have been shared on different social networks.
Ana hopes that as Jack recovers, he will continue to be Pumpkin’s protector and guide for a long time to come.
