Clementine, a sad shelter dog, was just days away from being put down when Chelsea Elizabeth Cossairt saw her picture on the Ginger’s Pet Rescue website. The dog was very thin and had been found by animal control weeks ago on the streets of Southern California in the United States.
With numerous health issues, Clementine was placed on “death row” at the shelter, but something much better awaited her. Something about her little photo stole Chelsea’s heart, and she immediately applied and soon received a call from the rescue center.
Chelsea told The Dodo:
“The person at Ginger’s Pet Rescue was devastated and in tears that we cared about her. He told us that of the hundreds of dog applications they’ve received in recent weeks, none were for Clementine. “
This dog from a shelter wouldn’t look at anyone

The rescue center volunteer explained that due to Clementine’s health condition, she had a long way ahead of her. But Chelsea was ready to go through the whole process and do anything to help the adorable dog heal.
When the woman finally met Clementine, it was very obvious that she had never known the love of her life.

Chelsea says:
“Clementine was absolutely terrified of people and didn’t look anyone in the eye. She was shaking all the time, hiding behind furniture, and sitting facing the wall for months. His eyes were empty and defeated. She never looked us in the face and tilted her head every time we approached her.”
Fortunately, Clementine felt comfortable around other dogs and immediately bonded with her new siblings, Moose and Maple. In that moment, Chelsea saw that her new member could be a happy dog.

The woman remembers:
“She sought solace in being close to them and traveling with them in packs around the house or yard. “

After a few appointments with the vet and a few months of treatment to recover from her infections and allergies, Clementine finally felt better and was no longer shaking. Gradually, she even had the courage to finally look at her adoptive parents. Now he looks lovingly at his mother, who has become one of his favorite things.
The dog’s human mother says:
“She loves to look deep into our eyes while we caress her, and she is very attentive when we talk to her. She’s always wary of new people and sometimes even scares us if we move too fast or get behind her, but she’s made it this far. “

Thanks to the love and dedication of her parents, Clémentine is a brand new dog. She is full of curiosity and joy, and seems to be living the puppy stage she never had.
Clementine has come so far since her adoption and come so far that she can barely be remembered as the scared little dog of old. Now she would do anything for her family, and her parents can’t imagine life without her.

Finally, Chelsea said:
“She’s such a sweet and kind girl. We realized early on that she just wanted to love and be loved back. She is loyal and protective of us, and she follows us everywhere. “
