Mélia and Karine are twin sisters and also volunteers at the Austin Animal Center. They recently took in a pregnant cat who was in dire need of a foster home.
Shortly after arriving at the foster home, a rescue cat named Aurora went into labor. Her new foster family accompanied her throughout the process; five of her kittens survived and started to manage bit by bit.
Mélia and Karine told Love Meow:
“She was very sweet. She purred and kneaded constantly, even when she drank water. This is the last time she will have to experience this, and I can’t help but wonder what would have happened. past if she had given birth outside.”
A cat rescued just in time to have her kittens
Simba, one of her kittens, was very attached to her mother and always wanted her attention. While his siblings rested between purrs, he stayed awake to be near Mama Aurora.
The tabby kitten spent the most time feeding with mom while the others slept, and quickly became the biggest kitten of them all.
Aurora became a devoted mother to all of her kittens, but Simba struggled to get more notice than her siblings and her mother couldn’t help but give her her full attention.
He was very attached to his mother and would do anything to get Aurora to notice him, it was funny to see him crawling on her or biting her ears to get her attention.
Every time Aurora looked at herself for a while, or wanted to rest, she found a restless little shadow behind her. Little Simba just wanted to be with his mother.
Volunteers say:
“She was very patient and took very good care of her babies. She is also the friendliest cat and she always wants to be petted and loved.”
A few weeks after his birth, the kittens were already running around the house, but little Simba always stayed close to his mother. He spent most of his time with her while his brothers were busy fighting, running, and messing around.
When the time finally came to find their forever home, a Dallas couple fell head over heels in love with Simba and Aurora. They quickly realized they were coming in a combo, so they had to adopt them both; that way mother and son would stay together forever.
The other kittens have also found superb homes where they will each live fantastic adventures, now alone.
Upon arriving at his new home, Simba was now called Beau. After exploring the place, he will be strong in his arms his mother who is now called Serif. Before long, the kittens took over office chairs and became supervisors of their humans’ tasks.
After a few months, mother and son are still very close, and little Beau continues to bathe with his mother, and their bond is just as strong.
