Wilford is a chubby cat who weighs around 28 pounds, he is an adorable gray feline who likes to show off his huge round belly whenever he gets the chance. This enormous 8-year-old kitten was rescued at the end of December by Lost Dog and Cat Rescue, a rescue group from Virginia (USA).
Sometime later, he was moved to his foster home with Jen and Ian in Washington, DC.
Wilford’s adoptive mother, Jen, told The Dodo:
“He rocks on his back several times a day. Sometimes he seems to be asking for a tummy massage, and sometimes he seems to be really lamenting, ‘Woe to me!'”

His foster family worked hard to help Wilford lose weight. When he got home, he was just looking for food.

Jen wrote on her Instagram page:
“He’s incredibly nice, but he’s also confused, stressed and overwhelmed by all the changes in his life, he had just lost his family, his home and his routine. I was in a new environment, with new people, new new smells, new sounds and other cats.”

This huge cat went through a difficult transition and reflected great anxiety when Jen and Ian welcomed him home.
The first thing her adoptive parents did was take the huge cat to the vet, where they discovered the chubby cat had asthma and an upper respiratory infection.

Helping this cat lose weight and improve his health was a difficult task, but his foster family looked for alternatives so Wilford could live a much healthier life.

It is a daunting task to control her eating due to her anxiety, but all that is done is in pursuit of her well-being.
Jenn added:
“Wilford’s personality is even bigger than his belly!”

Wilford follows a low calorie diet and eats high quality foods. she exercises daily and begins to pant less each day, struggles to get her bowels working, but is happy, purrs like any other cat and loves cuddles and toys, according to Jen.

After spending a month with his foster family, this cat managed to lose weight, started exercising, looked happy and was having fun wagging his tail with satisfaction.

Jenn added:
“He’s an incredibly nice guy with an amazing personality, we really believe he’s going to thrive and shed those pounds in the right environment with the right people”

Now Wilford’s life has completely changed, after going through all this process he has been adopted and has a fabulous permanent family giving him all the love this feline needs.
