Adorable Heaven was adopted from the Kentucky River Regional Animal Shelter by a family who decided to give her a second chance in her life. Her adoptive mother, Jackie Rakers, remembers that when they met the little dog she was very nervous, shy and was practically afraid of everything.
It was evident that she had gone through many difficult times in her life, which is why she was afraid of new people and loud noises.
Fortunately, after thinking about what she could do to help her, her mother found the perfect place for her Heaven to demonstrate her true personality.
Rescued dog becomes the cutest employee
The woman thought the Home Depot, a pet-friendly store, was the right place for Heaven to socialize with other people and animals.
Apparently her thinking was not wrong, and in no time sweet Heaven even earned an apron by becoming a “clerk” at the store.
Jackie told The Dodo:
Her visits to Home Depot began as a way to help her with her fears. She would get nervous with new places and sounds, so we would go for five minutes and she would get all the treats. Then we started going more to expose her to more things inside the store.
Heaven loves to visit the store, and every time her mother takes the orange apron from her, she knows that they are headed to her favorite place of hers.
Jackie added:
I keep it in the car so that we are always ready. As soon as she notices that we enter the parking lot, she flinches until I put [the apron] on her and then she goes to ‘work’. She walks as if she were the owner of the place.
The dog is very popular at the local Home Depot, even all the store staff know her and greet her happily every time they see her. Heaven is so beloved by everyone in the store, they have a photo of her in the break room for people to admire.
Heaven is not an official warehouse worker, but her colleagues, customers, and others are happy with her adorable customer service. The dog usually walks all the aisles of the store and, suddenly, she makes her meet someone and approaches her to offer her attention.
Jackie commented:
She just sits and watches. They always end up saying that they needed that encouragement. It’s like she has a sense of who she needs to be shown that she is loved that day, and one of her favorite places to do it is Home Depot!
Heaven likes to go shopping with her mother, but she also loves to make friends and when she meets someone with a difficult day she offers her smile and some kisses from her.
Before, the dog was afraid of everything, but with a lot of patience and training at her local store, she was able to get ahead and show her true personality. Now her job is to find the people who need her, to be able to give them a smile and a hug that changes her day.
Jackie said:
She is the perfect example of what happens when you meet someone where you are and love unconditionally. She went from being scared and sad to being the happiest dog.
The only downside to visiting the Home Depot is that her mother always ends up making new purchases to make improvements to her home.
But everything is worth it, especially because her dog is in the place that makes her happy and helps her overcome all her fears.
