This adorable dog, who was rescued when he was only six months old, does not stop offering his hand to his beloved father

Sam Clarence decided a couple of years ago to adopt a sweet dog from the Bull Breed Rescue shelter, located in Christchurch, New Zealand. Since then, the man has been able to see how this homeless dog went from being very nervous to becoming a very clingy and affectionate dog.

If something the dog named Stanley has made clear, it is that he loves being with his father and refuses to let go of his hand.

Regardless of the activity they are doing, and although often the moment is not convenient, Stanley decides to offer his “hand” to his new father.

Sam told The Dodo:

We have to be touching each other at all times. He is very forceful about it.

This cute relationship started when Sam volunteered to walk the dogs at his city’s animal shelter. At the time, members of the shelter came across two 6-month-old puppies who were living on an abandoned property with their mother.

At the shelter they thought that Sam would be the perfect candidate to care for one of the newly rescued puppies for a few weeks. Sam did not hesitate to accept the offer, but as soon as he saw Stanley’s photograph he knew it would be a process with a different ending.

Apparently, the man felt a strong attraction for the dog, as if it were love at first sight, so he decided to offer him a home.

Sam added:

He was terrified when we got home, it took him an hour to slowly get out of the car. Once he was out, I gave him a big bath, some food, and a comfortable bed in front of the fire.

Stanley gradually adjusted to his new home, but in the meantime he seemed to establish a fairly strong bond with his new father.

Since he arrived, he wanted to sleep in bed next to his father, but the most curious thing is that he always wanted to be touching him to calm himself.

Sam commented:

He used to lie behind me and always had at least one leg touching my back; if I moved, he moved.

It’s been over two years now, and while Stanley is wiser, he has never lost the need to be in the company of his favorite human.

Even when they go on different road trips, the sweet dog insists on touching his hand.

Sam said:

If I’m driving, we have to stay in touch or he will force me to do it. If we are watching television, the same. I’m going to have legs flying towards me until I touch it. It’s just the quirk of him. If I am not around, he will also do it to my housemate.

Without a doubt, Stanley loves his father and seems to be very grateful to him, so he wants to show it to him at all times.

Now they both enjoy living their new outdoor adventures when they travel to different parts of New Zealand and are extremely happy. If by chance in the middle of the trip they cross a beach, a river or a beautiful lake, Stanley does not hesitate to jump out of the car and dive into the water.

Sam highlighted:

He lives to please, so he goes with the flow. He is very happy and laughs for a minute. He had never met a dog with such a big personality.

Sam couldn’t find a better travel companion, even if it means working harder to be vigilant while he’s driving on the road.
