As Jenna Rezzonico ventured down the mountainous roads of Northern California, she noticed a small, distant hairball near the edge. As he moved closer and focused more clearly, it revealed an adorable little brown puppy all alone on top of the mountain.
Jenna, who runs Rezzi Rescue, recognized that she had to do something. Fortunately, a sympathetic person was already present who stopped when she saw the dog in danger. She and the kind passerby helped drag the dog off the street to safety.
Then they waited for animal control to arrive. The kind woman took some dog food out of her car and offered it to the dog, who was grateful to receive food.
Jenna told The Dodo:
โHe was super hungry. I could tell the collar had just been taken off because you could see the print.โ
Rescuers find the friendliest dog on top of a mountain
Despite his dire circumstances, the dog, later named Marley, was affectionate and full of life; he was turning on his back and asking for caresses.
Jenna says:
“He’s a very gentle dog. He also seemed a bit temperamental, maybe because of his previous owner.”
When animal control officers arrived on the scene, they quickly assessed Marley’s situation and determined that the helpless dog had been abandoned on the mountain.
Luckily, the good soul waiting with Jenna had a friend who was looking for a dog to adopt. After Marley was declared fit to go home, his potential new human partner met him and immediately knew: he was perfect!
With his new family and a new furry friend by his side, Marley can rest easy knowing he won’t have to face the world alone anymore.
