A London shelter threw a valentine’s day party to try and get a puppy adopted, but no one wanted to attend.
Luke was rescued from the streets and has been living for over 200 days at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London. Most dogs that arrive at this shelter are adopted in an average of 35 days. Which means Luke has been living in the shelter for a long time, and even though he’s looking for a home, no one seems to care enough about him.
There’s no doubt that Luke is a lovable dog, but he’s extremely shy, especially around other dogs, which is unlikely to allow him to find a forever home.
Shelter director Michelle Bevan said in a statement:
Although he’s a big dog, Luke really is a big comforter and loves nothing more than snuggling up to his favorite people and a stuffed animal.

Shelter workers are hoping someone comes along who will love him for who he is and give him a chance at a forever home.

Hoping to help her find a home, the shelter staff decided to throw her a special Valentine’s Day party.
The goal was for the party to pique people’s interest and encourage them to ask questions about Luke, so they could take him home with them.

So, the staff gathered decorations, prepared the place and prepared Luke in a very special outfit, hoping for the best results. Unfortunately, the plan didn’t go as planned, as Luke was left alone to celebrate the most romantic day of the year, as no one attended.

Michele added:
Valentine’s Day is a time to show your appreciation for those you love, so it’s heartbreaking to learn that Luke will spend the day without anyone to love…
Luke can be shy and troubled, but everyone who knows him knows he would be the best addition to a loving family. The only thing he needs is to find her, and although no one attended his party, his friends don’t give up hope that he will find her soon.

Luke can easily get overwhelmed, so he seeks a quiet home away from noise, crowded areas and where he is the only pet. In addition, he has skin problems, so he needs a family who understands him and helps him with his medical visits.

Michael commented:
Luke may have a few quirks, but he really has a lot of love to offer to the right person.
Somehow the staff will continue to help him so that Luke can find a forever home and be very happy.
