Shiro’s cat appeared out of nowhere. He joined the feeding flock and immediately caught the attention of the feeder. He needed help from a veterinarian and his condition turned out to be more serious than expected. “After a few days, the test results came back – toxoplasmosis positive, mycoplasma positive,” writes the Koci Claw Foundation. Since then, a fierce struggle has taken place for the animal’s life. New complications continue to arise, but neither Shiro nor the foundation plans to give up.

Shiro the cat suffers from hydronephrosis. “The baby is vomiting and has no appetite because of the pain”

The “Coci Pazur” Foundation in Poznań has existed for more than a dozen years and helps cats in need. Beneficiaries of the organization can count on the care of volunteers who fight to ensure that animals have the best possible life. Their struggles against fate can be exhausting, both physically and financially. Recently, they received another blow: one of their students needed urgent help.

“We don’t have good news – the Koci Claw Foundation is starting entry.”

Shiro’s cat, a ward of the foundation, hasn’t had any luck lately. His health problems began with a mycoplasma infection, but that wasn’t the only blow he suffered.

“Toxoplasmosis in Shiro, which results in interstitial nephritis (and therefore bleeding and blockage of the ureter), cannot be treated at present because we are fighting against mycoplasma, which is even more dangerous for Shiro.”

The cat did not respond to symptomatic treatment of hydronephrosis. Due to problems with the liver and digestive system, taking a second antibiotic is not an option. The painkillers also stopped working, leaving the animal in agony.

“However, we do not stop fighting for him, because Shiro has the will to fight and slowly begins to enjoy the joys of the life of a domestic cat” – writes the foundation.

There were complications after the operation. “We’ll have to reopen the poor thing.”

The only salvation for the cat was to perform a bypass. It was supposed to bypass the blocked ureter and allow the animal to function normally. The decision had to be made very quickly. The operation was carried out as quickly as possible.

“Shiro underwent surgery – he survived and is slowly waking up ” – writes the “Coci Claw” Foundation.

But that was the end of the good news. Unfortunately, despite the procedure, Shiro’s health did not improve. The Coci Claw Foundation suspects that another operation will be necessary.

“Unfortunately, there was a complication: during flushing, fluid came out of the kidney. We are currently waiting to see if it will absorb on its own, as it is possible that with kidney swelling like Shiro’s it will take a while. If the liquid does not penetrate and more appears, you will have to reopen the poor thing…”

The Cat Claw Foundation is asking for help. “His life is in your hands”

Shiro needs help. The prospect of further surgery and the costs of antibiotic and antiemetic treatment make it costly to keep the animal alive. The “Coci Pazur” Foundation is asking for help.

“We can’t imagine stopping the fight for a kitten, even if the costs are rising quickly. Help us save him by making at least a nominal donation to the fundraiser dedicated to Shiro. His life is in your hands… Thank you so much for every penny!”
