This little stray dog โ€‹โ€‹follows his rescuers and becomes the new ‘recruit’ for the police K-9 unit.

While two police officers from Los Angeles, California, United States, patrolled the streets, they saw an adorable little puppy that had been abandoned next to Hobart Boulevard. The little boy was tripping over the walls, he was weak and disoriented and did not know what to do.

As soon as the puppy saw the two police officers walking nearby, he somehow thought that they could help him, and without hesitating twice, he ran towards them until he reached them and did not leave his side for a moment.

When Los Angeles Police Officers Mercado and Tavera noticed the little canine’s presence, they knew they had to help him and rescue the poor animal from the streets.

Officers named the puppy “Hobart,” just like the name of the street where he was found wandering alone. They took the little boy in their hands and carried him back to his station. Hobart immediately joined them and seemed to be very calm, before long he began to follow them and no longer separated from the rescuers from him.

Soon, the entire station crew welcomed Hobart as the newest member of the Los Angeles Police Department.

And while his size might not be right for a K-9 unit, Hobart seemed pretty excited. In fact, even Officers Mercado and Tavera were completely enamored with the pup and began playing with their new furry friend outside of work hours.

On the station’s Instagram account they wrote:

The newest member of our K-9 unit, Officers Mercado and Tavera, found a puppy while on patrol near Hobart Blvd, brought it back to the station, and officially renamed it, โ€œHobart.โ€ Welcome to LAPD Hobart!

Although Hobart wasn’t really his new K-9 cop, the dog was happy to be safe with his new friends. Soon after, officers did the right thing and contacted a local rescue group called the Ghetto Rescue Foundation, who agreed to take care of little Hobart. There he received his first vaccinations and all the care he needed.

Soon after, he was put up for adoption and it wasn’t long before a family fell in love with him, and to everyone’s surprise, it was none other than Official Market who decided to take him home as a permanent member of his household.

Hobart is now happy with his family and in an update on his case, the family shared with the rescue group on their Facebook account:

Hi, here are some recent photos of LAPD_Hobart who was rescued by Officer Mercado in August 2019. He has settled in wonderfully and is a total joy to our entire family. We are a house full of rescue dogs along with a police K-9!
