Dogs rescued from parking lot in Texas have begged people to help them find food and a warm home, thankfully now they have love to spare
Destiny Vรกsquez, 18, found two frightened and hungry dogs in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant in Brownsville, Texas (USA). At first, Destiny saw one of the furry ones walking around, the young woman took out her phone to record a video, and rushed over to help her.
The young woman called her mother in tears to tell her about the scene in front of her.
Fate told The Dodo:
I was on the trail, I saw one of the dogs and I was like, ‘Oh my God! This dog is homeless. I was crying and crying. I called my mother and said: “Mom, I have to go get this dog. I didn’t know there were two dogs at the time.
Stray dogs in a parking lot asking for help
Jessica Marin, Destiny’s mother, has rescued homeless dogs before. So, at the call of his daughter, he went to the scene. There, he discovered that there were two dogs that apparently lived in the parking lot.
Jessica says:
I spoke to an employee who told me the dogs had been here a long time.
The woman took photos of the dogs and decided to send them to her daughter Leslie Hennings, to help her share the images on her social media to create awareness.
Alongside the images, Leslie wrote:
They get into every passing car hoping to find a home. It’s been weeks. Tonight will be another night.
Leslie’s post worked, and Ana Terรกn, a volunteer with the Animal Help Brigade in Houston, rented a car and drove there to pick them up.
Anna said:
As soon as I saw it, I couldn’t believe it. I couldn’t let go. I just said, ‘How can I get these dogs? If I have to rent a car, I’ll do it. for the knowledge.
To help in the process, Jessica had already managed to gain the trust of the dogs and took them in her car to meet Ana; I was very excited.
Jessica recalls:
I cried. I called my daughter and said to her: guess what dogs I have?
Seeing them, Ana was very moved, she added:
I was so excited to see them! They were the cutest. They wanted love so desperately. They were so friendly. They weren’t fearful or shy. They had big smiles; they were very excited. They had no idea what was going on, but they were very happy.
On the way home, Ana picked up nine other dogs and during the trip she tried to keep them calm with music and talking to them; to make them feel safe and to remind them that life is beautiful too.
Now the two rescued dogs live with Ana; they are thought to be about a year old. They are two charming females named Patty and Pepper and they have a very sweet temperament, they like to be together and they are quite curious.
Valerie Johnson, president and co-founder of the Animal Aid Brigade, which specializes in rescues throughout South Texas, spoke on the matter, saying:
It’s heartbreaking. You feel empathy for these animals who are clearly trying to get someone to help them. It really breaks your heart and you wonder, ‘How did this happen?’
The shelter needs help to keep the rescues active, they are looking to raise funds to purchase a sterilization vehicle that will facilitate the most basic procedures.
Soon Pepper and Patty will be ready to find a forever home, and though it makes her homesick, Ana knows there are plenty of other animals who need her help.
She added:
This is just the beginning of his journey and his adventures. I’m really excited for them.
