Madison Kelly, a young cyclist went to a bike race and gave her best. Although she didn’t get first place in the contest, she did something very special: an orphaned kitten jumped onto her shoulders and she decided she would become his new human.
Madison lives in South Chicago, Illinois, USA.
Other competitors had found the frightened kitten under a car. For her safety, they decided it would be best to get her out of there and try to find someone who could take her to a shelter or even adopt her. Minutes after finishing the race, Madison realized that several cyclists were around the cute kitten. As she has always been a huge cat lover, she couldn’t resist and decided to get closer to meet the cute feline.
In addition to being a cyclist, Madison has a master’s degree in biomedical engineering.
Madison had spent her entire life living with a kitten named Kitsy and they were best friends. As soon as she approached the orphaned competition kitten, she seemed to notice immediately that Madison had a thing for animals, so she jumped on his shoulders and refused to come out.
Madison has won more than 40 medals in cycling competitions.
They were all surprised by the instant connection they had had, but it was something final. Madison could take several steps in any direction and the kitten clung to her with all her might to stay on her shoulders.
Madison told Love Meow:
“I didn’t win the race but I had a nice company of cats.”
Seeing how affectionate the kitten was, Madison didn’t think twice and decided to take her home to adopt her. He called it Puig, which means “to climb” in Catalan and “podium” in Latin. A more than perfect name for a curious kitten who used his climbing skills to be able to claim his new human to take with him.
Puig gets along very well with the other kittens in the house.
As soon as they got in the car, Puig got excited and started exploring every nook and cranny, but when he started walking, he immediately got back on Madison’s lap and was hardly ever separated from him. she since. Once home, they bathed, fed and welcomed her. Puig felt very comfortable in his new home and it didn’t take him long to show everyone his special and fun personality.
“When she’s not snuggling, she loves to search for kitchen sponges and socks. Then he puts them together and stacks them in the weirdest places in the house.”
More than once, Madison has woken up to a pile of socks that Puig is “hunting” and proudly carrying them to her bed to show off a night’s work of hunting.
“She is very mischievous and curious.”
There’s no doubt this will be a race Madison will never forget. She had the very special friendship of a kitty who is an expert in stocking hunting and cuddling.
We invite you to share this story that shows how beautiful it is for kittens to choose their favorite humans.
