A young dog was found tied to a tree in the Gorzรณw Wielkopolski forest. According to the animal protection association “Azyl”, the perpetrator of the animal abandonment wanted to make sure that the dog would not break free or find its way back. To this end, instead of a regular leash or rope, he used a harder product to tie up the unwanted animal. A cash reward is offered to help identify the owner.
Abandoning an animal is a punishable offense
The punishment for abandoning a dog is considered animal abuse in Poland and is punishable by law. Despite the threat of legal consequences for the perpetrator, every spring, police officers and representatives of animal protection organizations pay attention to the growing number of abandoned animals, most often dogs and cats.
Although the peak of this shameful practice falls on the holiday season, at the end of March and April, many unwanted animals also end up in shelters, on roadsides and in forests. Some of them are unwanted gifts for Christmas, birthdays or other special occasions. These animals often, but of course not always, please their owners only for the first few months. Over time, more and more responsibilities are added to caregivers who do not have the time, patience or willingness to understand and then fulfill. Innocent pets become a source of frustration and a nuisance until an idea arises in the distorted mind on how to get rid of them.
On Sunday, March 17, the Animal Protection Association “Azyl” – Azorki Gorzรณw Wielkopolski Shelter announced on social networks that an abandoned dog had been found and asked Internet users if anyone had recognized the young dog. A cash reward has been offered to help identify the owner. Initially, this amount was almost 100 dollars, but with the subsequent influx of reports from informants, it has increased to more than 160 dollars.
A Doberman-type dog tied to a tree in the middle of the forest. It is still a puppy
The Doberman-type puppy was in the forest near the cycle path on the road from Gorzรณw to Kลodawa and it is possible that it was abandoned by one of the local residents. It is probably about 7 months old. What is even more disturbing is that in such a short time it has already been rejected by a man who owed it unconditional love and care.
“It was found brutally tied to a tree with a wire. With a WIRE, so that it could not accidentally free itself by biting the leash. It has been sentenced to death,” say Azyl representatives.
In the latest message, the shelter representatives stated that the police are taking steps to confirm the owner’s contact details. All indications are that he was found thanks to the help of people who helped him.
When adopting an animal, you should not only consider its appearance.
Iron, as the young dog is called, is currently in a mandatory 14-day quarantine. He has a long way to go before he regains his trust in humans, which does not discourage potential guardians who are wondering about the possibility of adopting a new resident of the shelter. The puppy is looking for a responsible and experienced guardian, willing to work with the dog under the supervision of a behaviorist, which is why the staff of the establishment reserves the right to contact selected people.
“Currently, he is very distracted, does not know basic commands and walks poorly on a leash. He jumps a lot and barks. What he has experienced could have a strong impact on his psyche, that is why we are looking for a home that knows the specifics of this breed” – noted in the entry of the Animal Protection Association “Azyl” – Azorki Shelter Gorzรณw Wielkopolski.
It should be remembered that puppies, kittens, rabbits, rodents and exotic animals are often bought and adopted because of a momentary whim or in an attempt to please a partner, parent or younger family members. When making a decision, the far-reaching consequences of caring for a living being take second place. It seems that the main issue is the need for immediate gratification, to have the here and now, but the priority must always remain the well-being of the animal.
