The story begins a few days before Christmas Eve, on a snowy train track in Ukraine. Right there, in the middle of the tracks, is Lucy, badly injured and unable to move on her own. But she is not alone, Lucy is accompanied by another dog, her faithful companion Panda, who is not separated from her for a second.
Not for a second, not a thousandth of an inch, is this brave dog separated from Lucy, who knows he must stay by her side to keep her warm and safe from muggers and trains.

Under these circumstances, there are two full days left until Christmas Day. Denis Malafeyev receives a phone call warning him of the dangerous situation of two death-defying dogs on the train tracks near the town of Tseglovka.

Malafeyev, who is used to rescuing animals, did not hesitate and went there to find himself in a complicated situation: Panda was not only trying to protect his injured companion from trains, but from anyone approaching too close.
Helpless not to be able to approach them, Malafeyev was forced to watch the same scene over and over again: a train speeding towards the animals, Panda positioning himself next to Lucy and pushing his head down just enough to avoid the blow.
After many failed attempts, Malafeyev gains Panda’s trust and is able to get close enough to pick up Lucy, pull her off the tracks and into the trunk of his car on the way to a vet. And Panda with them.

This is how a complete stranger saved the lives of two endangered animals and brought them to safety. Lucy and Panda’s adventure ends here and it does so as only a story ending can. The dogs were returned to their owners, where they remained safe and sound.
