Knowing how to prevent the development of this disorder in dogs is very important. Here, then, are some tips on how to do it
It is one of the most common behavioral disorders present in our four-legged friends. However, playing early in these cases is essential. So how do you prevent separation anxiety in dogs?
If you do not know, separation anxiety occurs in situations where the dog remains alone at home or in any case fears the separation with the owner or owners at any time. Precisely for this reason, it is important to prevent it.
Let him associate the experience with something positive
For a dog, the absence of the owner is probably the most distressing thing of all. But if you can make him, feel at ease with him and make him live your absence with serenity, then the situation changes dramatically. So try to work on positive reinforcement, do not go out in an “abrupt” way (that is, take the keys and the jacket and go out directly) and, most importantly, never let him lack toys.
Keep the dog in shape
Exercise is as important for us as it is for our four-legged friends. In addition to the physical issue, however, there is also the mental factor to consider: a dog that does regular physical activity, in fact, is less subject to hyperactivity, accumulation of repressed energy and stress. In this case, then, it can be of great help!
Don’t be too clingy
Playing with your furry friend is extraordinary, we all agree in this. Being too clingy, however, can lead the dog to develop a kind of morbidity which consequently favors the development of separation anxiety. For this reason, try to play with him, pamper him and everything that rhymes with affection and love but in the right measure.
Use natural supplements
In some cases, natural supplements may be the best prevention method to prevent separation anxiety from developing. Before taking the initiative, however, you must listen to the opinion of the veterinarian!
