Despite the fact that we humans have some differences with dogs, they never cease to amaze us with the emotions they can convey to us. Although dogs cannot speak, they are able to say a lot with gestures, postures and reactions to what is going on around them.
One day in Southern California, USA, a woman saw two dogs huddled on a street corner, so she asked the neighbors if they recognized them but no one claimed them. Given this, she knew she should call Logan’s Legacy Animal Shelter for help.
They were a pit bull and Yorkshire terrier pair who had nothing but themselves, so they stayed as close as possible to stay safe in their abandoned situation.

โApparently, they had been there for about a week. All the neighbors said they just arrived,โ shelter founder Suzette Hall told The Dodo.

So, in an attempt to rescue them, Suzette approached the dogs to get them to start trusting her, and her response was unexpected despite the fact that the volunteer has a lot of experience in this type of case.
โI went out and started talking to them, and they were so excited. They looked at each other and started wagging their tails like they were saying, ‘Oh my God, someone came to get us. Look, someone is there! ‘โ she detailed to The Dodo. And unlike other rescues, there was no need to guide them through a cage to get them off the streets.

โThe little dog ran towards me, then the little pit bull came running right after her. I grabbed the little one first. She let me pick it up! She just wanted love,” Suzette told The Dodo. “The pit bull was more temperamental at first, but when I took the little one, all the pit bull wanted to do was be with her. That’s when I knew I had them,” she added.
As soon as the Yokshire terrier got into Suzette’s car, the pit bull also got in after seeing her friend safe, and because she probably didn’t want to be separated from her, since they were very happy to be reunited.
โThe next thing I knew was that the little girl was trying to get into the big cage with the pit bull. So, I finally put them together. And when they knew they were safe, they hugged each other again and fell into a deep sleep,” the lifeguard told The Dodo.

So, Suzette looked for the names she was going to give them and she didn’t take long to find them: Thelma and Louise, and as soon as she could, she took them to the vet for a check-up. Luckily, they were both fine, only Louise had matted hair while Thelma had a rash, but both issues were quickly addressed.
Since then, they have remained at Camino Pet Hospital, together as always and receiving the attention and love of their caregivers, hoping to continue this way until the next chapter of their lives: a permanent or foster home. “They must be together (…) It was one of my favorite rescues. You could say that they were the best friends in the world”, concluded Suzette to The Dodo.
