Two members of the Civil Guard did not hesitate to jump into the icy water to save the dog from certain death.
One of the most reliable indicators of the progress of societies is how they treat their animals. Respect for animal welfare is a maxim that is currently beyond debate and the feat that two members of the Civil Guard have achieved in these days would have been unthinkable in another era. Not now, when they played the kind of rescuing a dog that was in danger inside a frozen lake.
This happened last Tuesday in the vicinity of Badaguรกs, near Jaca, in the province of Huelva. The Canfranc patrol was notified at 11 a.m. that Siro, a young Golden Retriever dog, had fallen into an artificial lake covered with a layer of ice. When they got to the place, they found the poor animal crying and swimming as best he could between the frozen patches of water.
Once the situation was assessed, two of the guards decided to take off their uniforms and jump into the tank to rescue the dog. The Civil Guard shared the video of the heroic rescue in which we appreciate how the first one makes his way with a log through the ice to reach Siro. The second follows him and they manage to lead the dog to the shore:

The video, which has racked up over a million views, garnered admiration and gratitude from tweeters, who were quick to applaud the Civil Guard for carrying out a mission like this.
