Aardvark was rescued from the streets of Baltimore, Maryland (USA) with the help of a kind-hearted person, who picked him up and took him to the Maryland SPCA (MDSPCA).
Since his arrival, shelter staff couldn’t believe their eyes as the adorable 50-pound pooch had a cartoon face and flipper-like paws.
Shelter member Brittany Roger told The Dodo:
“Honestly, no one could take him seriously. His face and personality inspired a lot of laughs.”

A medical examination revealed that Aardvark was only 8 months old and his lower jaw had been deformed from birth.
“Most people assume she had an accident, but they are quickly relieved to find out she was born so beautiful.”
Aardvark’s facial deformity does not prevent him from being a dog like any other dog, as he does all his activities normally. He eats well, barks, runs, chews things, but not destructively, plus he is happy and healthy which makes him even more special.
The only thing that catches the eye, other than his face, is his serene personality, as the dog seems to be grateful to everyone and loves their company.
“He’s an energetic, cheerful and sociable little guy. We have a lot of fun dressing him up and taking him everywhere because nothing really bothers him.”
Unfortunately, finding a forever home for Aardvark was not an easy task, as there is still a problem. However, shelter staff describe him as a very special dog, who is so friendly he would even befriend a wall.
“We’ve had a few requests, and for some reason they keep failing. It’s not his fault, but he was eliminated by bad luck.”
Fortunately, the happy ending for Aardvark has finally arrived. Months after people learned of her story on social media, Aardvark found a forever loving family.
Now, the one-faced dog has managed to achieve his dream of finding a home, with people who love him just the way he is.
