After hearing strange noises coming from the ceiling of her house, this woman began to ask herself some questions. She didn’t really understand, but when she realized they were baby raccoons, she was speechless!
It all started when the woman, who lives in Scarborough, Ontario, was resting in her bedroom. At one point, he started hearing strange noises coming from the ceiling, like some sort of chirping.
The first thing that came to his mind was that they were birds. But he immediately realized that wasn’t the case and called local wildlife authorities to do a thorough check.
When rescuers arrived, they immediately realized they were baby raccoons. There were four little ones, hidden under the wooden planks and the birds would certainly never have eaten the roof.
The wildlife control officers were very surprised. Most baby raccoons are born between March and May, but these babies were born in early February. A very sweet discovery!
“The discovery of baby raccoons at this time of year was unexpected,” said one rescuer. And he added: “Finding newborn raccoons during the first few months of the year is not uncommon. In fact, last year the first baby raccoons were found in January. In Gates Wildlife Control’s 38-year history, this has never happened – it’s a record.”
The authorities immediately set to work to ensure the puppies received all the necessary care. They took them to the rescue center and will soon return them to their habitat. The woman was so happy to have been such a big help, they probably never would have done it without her help!
