This woman decided to create a nursery to welcome her adorable new dog into the family.
Joyce is an animal-loving woman who was devastated when she lost her beloved dog in 2013. Over time, he considered adding a new canine member to his family, but the timing just didn’t seem right. really come. However, in recent years everything changed, and she started working fewer hours and managed to buy a nice house with a garden.
So finally, Joyce felt the time was right to reconsider her idea of adopting a dog, and she came across a message from Golden Gate Labrador Retriever Rescue (GGLRR) about a litter of puppies looking for a forever home.
Joyce told The Dodo:
“It happened halfway through law school, and between finishing school, starting my career, working too many hours, and my first house without a yard, I didn’t think that it was still fair to have a dog, even if I wanted to.”

“I submitted my application and on Sunday morning the list was closed due to a large number of interests. After another few weeks of waiting and many interviews, I was chosen.”
When she learned that her application had been accepted, Joyce immediately focused on adapting everything for the arrival of the newest member of her family. She only had a week to prepare everything at home and arrange a nice and comfortable room for her puppy.
Joyce fell head over heels in love with her new dog named Harrison, and the adorable pooch seemed to be happy alongside her new mom.
But Joyce felt she hadn’t done her homework as a mother, and the space for Harry still needed a few details to be completely perfect. And just in March 2020, with the arrival of the pandemic, he found the perfect opportunity to devote himself to finishing his dog’s room.
For a few years the dog room was half finished and due to time constraints Joyce was unable to complete Harry’s installation as much as she wanted but when she started working from home full-time due to the pandemic, she decided to go back to the idea of creating a small personalized space for him.
Doing the whole project was hard work because Joyce wanted to get it right. I wanted Harry’s baby room to be perfect and between cleaning the room, painting, decorating and putting everything together took about a year, but the result was truly amazing.
“At first it was almost a matter of organization for me (keeping his clothes, toys and everything in one place), but he loves it. He’s fully aware of what ‘Harry’s room’ is. and often sits outside his bedroom door, waiting to come in. Most of his toys are there, and Harry is the biggest toy fan!”
Harry’s room is perfect, and of course it’s his favorite place; there, he takes peaceful naps in his crib and, at night, he wears his favorite pyjamas so that mom reads him a book before going to bed.
Joyce also set up a camera to make sure she was aware of all of Harry’s needs during the night. Harry’s crèche is fully equipped.
“People who know me personally know how much I’ve always wanted a dog, so most weren’t even that surprised, it was a ‘of course you made him a boy’ reaction.”
Joyce has had to wait so long to have a pet in her life again, that she is happy to share everything with Harry and make sure her spoiled boy has everything he wants.
