Woman finds her cat missing for eight months after recognizing its meow on the phone

When Rachael Lawrence and her family lost their two-year-old cat named Barnaby, they were truly devastated and despite the months that passed, the woman and her children always thought of their beloved feline. Incredibly, one day the woman knew she had found her pet when she recognized his meow in the background of a phone call.

Rachael had contacted the veterinary clinic where her other 11-month-old cat named Torvi was, she was going to undergo surgery. Hearing meows from the back of the line, the woman asked staff if it was Torvi she had heard meowing, but they told her it was a stray cat who had arrived a week earlier.

This feline’s meow haunted Rachael’s mind for hours after she hung up, so without thinking twice, she decided to call the clinic again.

After asking if the cat was black and being told that it was, the woman continued to ask about some peculiar signs that Barnaby had on his fur, such as a white spot on one of his hind legs, and it turned out that she also found it. They replied that the cat showed these particular signs.

As soon as she approached the clinic and the cat was brought into one of the rooms, Rachael knew it was indeed her cat who had gone missing 8 months ago.

Rachaeal told Metro UK:

“I cried. I’m talking snot bubble screams. I was screaming. ‘We hadn’t seen him in eight months.’

At first, Barnaby was nicknamed Fatman by his family, but when he returned, he had a lot of scabs all over his body and was really skinny and hairless after the months he spent on the streets.

But now, the sweet feline is more than happy to be back with his humans, and they can’t wait to feed him again and help him recover.

Rachael remembers a video calling her three children, Be, Joshua and Amalie, from the vet’s office.

The woman added:

“I just said, ‘Look who I found.’ They said, Oh my God, it’s Barney. It’s Fatman! He’s back home now, where he should be. He’s doing so well. We just need to fatten him up so he can grow back to being Fatman.”
