As Bryn Crowell and his friends sailed on a boat off the coast of Florida, something caught their eye. There was a strange object in the water, so they decided to slow down and turn around to see what it was.
From a distance Bryn and his friends believed it was a hat a tourist had lost, but when they got closer everything changed.
Bryn told The Dodo:
“My first thought: Woah, this hat looks like a dog! A second later, I realized he really was a dog!”

No one could explain how the little dog got to this place so far off the coast, but it was clear he was fighting for his life.
Without hesitation, one of Bryn’s friends decided to jump in the water, grabbed the dog, and carried him to the boat for safety.
Another friend of Bryn’s recorded the exact moment of the rescue and decided to post it on social media. The incident was so unbelievable that it quickly went viral.
The pup was a little scared and shocked, however, he was very lucky to have been found by the group of boaters.

Bryn added:
“You could tell he had just swam for his life.”
After checking the dog, the youngsters noticed that he had a collar with an identification tag and with his family information. So they decided to call to report their rescue, and in the middle of the phone call, they heard they were crying, upset and stunned.
According to information provided by the family of the dog named Zuko, that day they were sailing on a boat and had brought their dog. It was Zuko’s first time sailing, so he was very excited and jumped every time a wave crashed into the boat.
Somehow the little dog fell overboard without his family noticing, and they thought he was hiding on the boat.
After looking for it for a few minutes, they couldn’t find it, so they decided to come back to browse the areas where they had sailed. Unfortunately, they didn’t perform well, but thanks to Bryn and his friends, Zuko got a second chance in his life.
Bryn commented:
“When we got back to Zuko, we could see [his owners] hug him and cry.”
Zuko’s family sent a thank you message to their new heroes and explained the difficult times they had gone without their pup. Also, they added a photo where you can see that they bought a life jacket for Zuko which will keep him safe in the water.
Although he swam alone in the ocean, Zuko was in perfect condition and the vet only recommended that he drink plenty of water.
Zuko’s story could probably have another ending, but thanks to the bravery of Bryn and his friends, it ended up having a happy ending.
