police dog Izzy finds missing girl

Police dog Izzy is rightly celebrated as a heroine by the Connecticut State Police. It is thanks to her that a little girl is healthy again at home.

You don’t even want to imagine the fears parents had to endure: their only ten-year-old daughter was nowhere to be found, she was simply missing. Fortunately, law enforcement officials have trained search and rescue dogs for such situations, the so-called K9 dogs.

Missing girl! Izzy’s very particular instinct was required

Litchfield Department Connecticut State Police reported on Facebook about the dramatic events and the special role of furry colleague Izzy. As a result, officials were alerted on Sunday December 12 and called to the town of Woodbury, located in County Lichfield. The cause of the 911 call was the missing girl.

Izzy detects the smell

First, police attended the missing child’s home and Izzy detected his smell on clothing, as Greenwich Time website reported. The animal was able to orient itself immediately and led its owner to a nearby forest area. After a “sniffing course” of more than two and a half kilometers, the big success: the missing person was found unharmed in the area of โ€‹โ€‹the Whittemore Sanctuary.

Further praise for the excellent nose

His human colleagues certified Izzy with a “great job” in the Facebook post. And that recognition certainly came in extra hugs, and she shouldn’t have run out of treats.

This dog has been involved in numerous searches for missing children and has been remarkable in her rescue efforts. In fact, he recently succeeded in circumscribing a teenage girl in South Dakota County.
