A passerby noticed a little kitten wandering on the street, who clearly had eye problems. Worried about his condition, he informed a local animal welfare organization about his whereabouts. The baby’s reaction to people speaks for itself.
The visually impaired kitten was taken in by rescuers from the Best Friends Felines organization. The ginger boy had serious vision problems. He could hardly see anything. However, it did not occur to them for a moment to give up the fight for a better life, for which he thanked them touchingly.
They abandoned a blind kitten on the street
When rescuers from Best Friends Felines arrived on the scene, the sight of the kitten completely moved them. They had no major problems catching him, so he was quickly transported to the center, where he underwent a series of tests under the supervision of veterinarians.
It turned out that the redhead suffered from microphthalmia. This is a disease that affects both humans and animals. It manifests itself in abnormally small eyes, which makes vision difficult, or sometimes completely impossible. He was very scared, but the presence of other kittens reassured him.
Amigo loved other cats
Amigo, because that was the name given to the adorable toddler, quickly made friends with other cats who also had health problems. His favorite thing is a cat named Smokey. When he approached her for the first time, he immediately went to her and hugged her, as if he were looking for support in these difficult moments.
– He has integrated perfectly into his foster family and is doing very well considering his limited vision. He remained shy and timid, but loved other cats, rescuer Nikki says, as quoted by “Love Meow”.
Although he was afraid of something, he calmed down after a while when he felt that his feline friend was next to him. Over time, he learned to access the food and water bowl, had no problem relieving himself in the litter box and sometimes played like a normal kitten.
“Finding a home for a cat with special needs is always a little more difficult”
The staff of the organization were well aware that it would not be easy to find a home for an orange cat with vision problems. However, after five months in the foster family, Amigo was reunited with Kelly and Louie. The idea immediately came to them that he would be a great companion for their 8-month-old cat, whom they also adopted.
Amigo and Bazyl immediately found common ground. Thanks to him, the ginger cat settled in a new place more quickly and opened up to his owners. He also loves to cuddle with his older brother, the cat.
– He has adapted wonderfully and his new parents are delighted with him. Amigo and Basil are now best friends for life – the rescuer enthuses.
