There are many things in life that can break our hearts, and one of them is seeing a dog roaming the streets, having no home to go to or being unable to return home. him after getting lost.
That’s why the best thing we can do is find out if he has an owner he misses who wants him back, or take him to a shelter. Jasmine Noffsinger and her sister knew what to do when they saw a dog wandering down the road with no one to accompany her.
“He was extremely skinny. I could see all of his ribs and all of his spine,” Jasmine told The Dodo. “I got out of the car and he ran full speed towards me, moving his whole body. It was the most beautiful thing in the world,” she added.
As soon as the dog was safely inside the car, they took him to a vet to check his health and if he had a microchip. “He actually had one, but they couldn’t get his information,” Jasmine said.
But luckily, the microchip company had archived the dog’s information, and thanks to that, they could see that his name was Hamm and that he lived in Dade City, Florida (USA), which meant that he had made a very, very long trip to Pensacola in the same condition.
After that, the chip company contacted the husband of Patricia DeWit, owner of Hamm, to tell him the good news and contact Jasmine.
“When I told him I had Hamm he started crying hysterically and was in shock and didn’t believe he had it. Then he told me he had been missing since February 2021, and when I asked him where he lived, he said Dade City, which is 724 miles from me in Pensacola,” the rescue worker told the site.
It turns out that Hamm had escaped from the patio and his family looked for him everywhere, but since the house is very large, having an area of 40 hectares, they could not find him, but thanks to Jasmine and his sister, the miracle was possible.
Jasmine and Patricia decided to meet in Tallahassee for the long-awaited reunion, and Hamm knew it. “When the DeWits pulled up, Hamm ran over to them and got in his car,” Jasmine told The Dodo.
Jasmine didn’t miss the chance to record the long-awaited reunion and upload it to TikTok, where Hamm can be seen wagging his tail as fast as a propeller to finally see his beloved owner, who made him a huge hug as soon as he had her in front of him, and at the same time squandered the happiness with his smile.

Jasmine has since received updates on Hamm, who was quick to move into his home after spending 2 years missing, like he never was.
After that, Jasmine took the opportunity to remind the importance of microchipping pets and updating information. “And for anyone who finds a dog and the dog has a chip, just because the information doesn’t come out right away doesn’t mean there isn’t one. Go the extra mile and do what you have to,” he told The Dodo. Wise advice.
