Postman Dan Targonsk was on his regular mail delivery route in Philadelphia when he saw something he couldn’t ignore.
There, on the sidewalk, was a dirty, hungry dog.
The boxer dog, which he named Hunan, sat in the blazing sun. She was tied to a tree and had no food or water.
But instead of petting the dog and moving on, this wonderful postman decided to teach us all an important lesson about kindness and caring.
Postman Dan rushed to buy him food and bring him water.
He then contacted a local association and stayed with the dog until they arrived.
The good people of the Adopt a Boxer Rescue association took the dog under their protection and gave her the name “Kuperus”.
They discovered, among other things, that she had a large head wound, caused by a gunshot or knife bullet. The boxer suffered a broken jaw and several teeth had to be pulled out.
Despite the horrible abuse Kuperus endured, she showed almost immediately how gentle and loving she was.
“It amazes me how much attention she gets,” said Dawn Karam, founder of Adopt a Boxer Rescue. “She wants nothing more than petting…even after a horrible man beat her and left her to die. Simply amazing.”
While Kuperus was recovering with her foster family, the association tried to find out who had abused her.
It’s unclear if they managed to find him, but in July last year, Kuperus was adopted by a loving family.
She had the life that every dog deserves, and the postman Dan even came to visit her from time to time.
After fully recovering, Kuperus appeared on television several times and won the hearts of dog lovers around the world.
Kuperus also helped raise awareness about dog abuse, all thanks to the big-hearted postman.
Hopefully this story will help more people understand how many people refuse to stand by and do nothing while animals are mistreated. Maybe even the former owner of Kuperus will learn a lesson from this important message!
