Letting a dog have its own fate is one of the meanest things that should be punished severely. Now, deliberately leaving him in the middle of nowhere, so no one can find him, is something only a rotten, dark heart is capable of doing.

When Ruth Thomas-Coxon, an RSPCA animal rescue worker, received a call from someone who saw a dog huddled in a wood by the side of the road, she immediately drove to investigate and, upon arrival, what she saw, broke her heart.

Thomas-Coxon told The Dodo:

The tan colored dog was quite weak and thin, and extremely scared. When I saw him huddled over there surrounded by ivy, it was a pitiful sight.

The dog, later named Bang Bang, was definitely confused and seemed to be waiting for someone to finally come and help him. It looked like he had probably been abandoned, and it was difficult to know exactly how long he had been there on his own. One of his hind legs was swollen and he was in desperate need of a good meal.

Bang Bang was hosted by the RSPCA’s Great Ayton Animal Center, where staff quickly began treating his leg and other injuries. They found out he had a microchip, but when they called the number, the family said they sold him a few weeks earlier which meant he had to be ditched.

Thomas-Coxon added:

I am very happy that he is now safe, that he receives the care he needs and that he can soon begin his search for a new loving home.

Although Bang Bang was really scared when he was first rescued, he quickly started approaching his rescuers. He was so happy to finally be in a safe place with people who had so much love to give.

Olivia Duffill, Deputy Director of the Great Ayton Animal Center, said:

Bang Bang is doing very well and his leg is improving every dayโ€ฆ He has started to gain weight on his leg so that is great news. He is such a beautiful and charming dog by nature, and he loves himself. pamper and spend time with our staff.

Bang Bang is making progress every day and everyone at the shelter is so excited to begin the process of finding him the perfect home forever.

Duffill adds:

Once Bang Bang has recovered from his leg injury and has been fully assessed, we will start looking for a new loving home for him, and I don’t think it will take long. He is such a fabulous dog and he will be a wonderful addition to the good family.

It’s hard to believe that knowing the true personality of this beautiful little dog, his supposed family was capable of such a cruel and mean act. Hopefully Bang Bang reaches the best hands, where his heart will never be broken like this again.
