Many abandoned cats end up in a cardboard box. Worse still, many pets are left in boxes in seldom-visited places. Many of them are saved by accident. This was the case of Elf, a ginger cat found in a box by the side of the road. He was hungry and cold. If he hadn’t been accidentally startled by a walking woman, he probably wouldn’t have survived another night.
Abandoned cat may have frozen to death
A woman, while walking her dog, came across a cardboard box on the side of the road. Inside was a ginger tabby cat. The cat was confused and terrified. It was cold. The woman responded immediately. She sought help from a local organization that helps homeless animals. The cat was secured and transported to a place where he could rely on professional help.
His name was Elf. He was suspicious but at the same time very grateful. He happily ate much of the food and took advantage of the soft, warm blanket. He no longer had to worry about the low outside temperature.
It was a record rapid adoption
The activists knew they had to find a home for Elf as soon as possible. They had taken care of many other animals and were sure more would come regularly. They didn’t expect the cat to find a new home so quickly. They didn’t even have time to prepare an adoption announcement.
Tricia, the woman who volunteered to adopt the redhead, learned about his story from the woman who found him in a cardboard box. She’s a good friend of hers. She was so touched by the cat’s story that she decided to offer him a warm corner, a full bowl and love, on which he could not count until then.
It turned out that Tricia met all the conditions. She knew perfectly well how to take care of a cat, because she already had six purring pets in her house. She filled out the adoption form and went to find Elf.
Elf immediately felt at home
Fortunately, after the cruel event, the time has come for pleasant days. Elf had no problem acclimatizing to her new home. He also made friends with the other cats he lived with almost immediately. Overnight, he became an inseparable part of the herd that Tricia tended.
The new guardian of Elf noticed that the cat did not move like other representatives of this species. Its hind legs point outward. He looks a bit like a rabbit. This is most likely why someone decided to get rid of it.
Fortunately, the unusual posture causes him no pain. Elf is also able to move as efficiently as other cats. It just does it in a slightly different way.
