In a neighborhood of Las Vegas, Nevada (USA), two abandoned kittens were found with no mother in sight, and they were transferred to a local rescue center. The little ones needed a foster family and Patricia Lika, an experienced cat care volunteer, took the kittens in immediately.
Once home, under the care of their new adoptive mother, the kittens showed some eye discomfort. Apparently, they suffered from an eye infection that prevented them from opening their eyes, known as ophthalmia neonatorum.
Patricia told Love Meow:
“It’s the reality of kittens being born on the streets into dirty environments of young mothers or mothers who have had litter after litter.”
A kitten with magnificent whiskers falls in love with everyone
The kittens named Grogu and Leia were very close and cared about each other. Tuxedo’s kitten, Leia, didn’t seem to be responding well to treatment and one of her eyes was still affected by the infection; her brother comforted her with hugs and always stayed by her side.
Patricia says:
“We had major concerns and thought his eye might be too damaged. We had another consultation and stronger eye medication to see if it would work. And it worked!”
Patricia’s partner came to help with the whole kitten process and gave Leia his full attention, taking care of her and pampering her all the time to cheer her up. Thanks to all the attention of her adoptive parents, Leia soon showed signs of improvement and in the blink of an eye the little girl revealed her beautiful eyes and a great appetite began to appear.
As she grew and fully recovered, the kitten with the gorgeous whiskers that protruded from her little face made everyone who knew her fall in love.
Patricia said:
“The adoptive father has a huge crush on this little princess. I think he’s in love with those magical mustaches.”
As soon as Leia discovered her climbing skills, she didn’t stop and had fun climbing on her adoptive parents’ legs like a great explorer; she was always looking to get attention and proudly show off all her new skills.
The adoptive mother of the kittens assures:
“They’re so proud of themselves when they get close to me. It’s like saying, ‘Mom, look. I came to give you hugs and kisses.’
With the passage of two months and their conditions completely gone, Grogu and Leia were ready to begin a new, definitive chapter in their lives. Their adoptive parents were really happy to see their progress and very honored to have contributed to part of the journey of these kittens.
Finally, the two brothers were adopted and now they live the life of their dreams, they have a family who takes care of them and pampers them most of the time.
Patricia said:
“You know when things are destined. That was it. The kittens fell in love with this amazing couple right away. They will be so loved by their family forever and will always hold a special place in my heart.”
