This sweet blind kitten became a spoiled and courageous feline after being taken in by a loving family.
Sunny, an animal rescuer who is part of the Little Wanderers NYC Rescue Center, received information about a kitten that was found in a neighborhood in Bronx, New York. She immediately went to the scene in search of the tabby feline, but on a first glance she couldn’t find it.
To find her more easily, she decided to leave some food and play cat sounds using her phone that would attract the kitten to her. Fortunately, his idea was a success and the little kitten came out of hiding.
As soon as the kitten approached her, Sunny noticed that her eyes were badly affected.
The lifeguard told Love Meow:
“At first it was thought he had a severe case of entropion (a condition where the eyelid turns inward). Once I saw her I realized there was something else in his eyes.”
Blind kitten gets very cute after being fostered
Using a trap, they managed to capture the kitten, which they decided to name Oracle. She was very scared and took refuge in the corner of the carrier to try to feel safe.
At the vet, they discovered Oracle was completely blind, had received treatment, and was about 5 months old.
Rescue Center staff said:
“She probably wouldn’t have survived long (outside). Being blind and being a stray is a recipe for disaster. She was rescued and her life changed forever.”
Tim, a volunteer at the shelter, welcomed Oracle into his home, with the intention of socializing her and helping her overcome the obstacles of her condition. Already at home with her new family, she received a warm bed, food and lots of care.
Thanks to Tim’s dedication, Oracle gradually lost her fear of people and sought out her new adoptive parent’s petting.
The shelter adds:
“At first we thought she was wild, but she wasted no time socializing. In fact, it happened overnight. Her adoptive parent takes the utmost care of her while she is preparing for the enucleation of both her eyes.”
Now the blind kitten has overcome every one of her fears and has a curious, confident personality, roams the corners of her home like any other kitten, and is happy as an indoor cat.
Her blindness doesn’t prevent her from enjoying typical cat activities, her other senses have been sharpened, and she’s doing just fine in the world around her. Oracle has finally become a beautiful happy kitty.
